The first major international conference took place in the newly opened Heidelberg Congress Centre (HCC) in the middle of September: the 17th Federal Congress ‘National Urban Development Policy’. Almost 1,200 people from all over the world took part – including prominent guests such as Federal Minister Geywitz and Mayor Würzner.
The Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Construction, Klara Geywitz, also visited some of Heidelberg’s largest urban development projects, including the Heidelberg Innovation Park (hip). Geywitz visited the hip and applauded it for its unique, future-orientated combination of business, science and innovation.
